Wild Sweep Cannons

Cartersville, GA – The second game of the 2-game series between the Cartersville Cannons and the Waleska could not have asked for a most beautiful evening in Georgia. Humidity was not a factor for the Cannons to earn their first victory at home and in their franchise inaugural season.

The Cannons had righty Oliver Bandy on the bump and the Wild Things went with James Tilley a commit to Reinhardt to start.

The scoring opened in the top of the first with Waleska scoring the first run of the game. Cade Fuller’s bloop single to left center field drove in the Wild Things first run. Tilley blanked the Cannons in the bottom of the first. In the top of the second Waleska jumped on the Cannon once again with a solo HR by Louis Dion that bounced off the hitters’ eye in dead center field to make it 2-0.

The Cannons would answer in the bottom half of the inning with an RBI single by Hank Smith to make it 2-1 Wild Things. A HBP would start the top of the third would get the Wild Things going in the 3rd.  Cannons Bandy was able to get the next 2 out but was greeted with a 2-R HR to Left Center field of the bat of Cade Fuller and the top of the 3rd ended with Wild Things up 4-1.

The Cannons answered with 1 of their own in the bottom of the inning with a leadoff triple by Aiden Boileau and an infield single by  William Curcio to make it 4-2 Wild Things after three.

The offense by both teams shut down until the bottom of the 8th with the Cannons pushing across a run to make it 5-3. The Cannons had a chance to strike for even more but a 3U off the bat of Hank Smith for the second out. Smith then threw to get Ethan Crawley as he extended distance from second on the groundball and the threat and inning was over.

The bottom of the ninth got exciting as the Cannons had men on second and third with two out with the chance to tie the game. Closer Wesley Moore was able to induce the ground ball to second base off the bat of William Curcio to earn the save.

Both teams will be back at action on Friday. The Cannons with be at home hosting the Atlanta Crackers and the Waleska will be on the road visiting the Atlanta Blues. Both are 7:05pm starts. To get more information visit
